Talking New Flying Toy Too Cool

Waiting for the CC Tail feathers to get fixed I took up flying R/C. This is the new PHANTOM 2 Quad-Copter with GPS, Auto Pilot, Full Gimbal mount and shooting a GoPro Hero 3+ Black. The thing is a hoot ! Here my little buddy drives the golf cart while I tried to keep the thing out of the trees… Of course the weather has been clear, warm and calm since the tail deal started… (-:

Steve, that is very cool! You're going to get into trouble though, do you have a buddy ready to bail you out of jail when you get busted for peeping on your neighbor ladies while they're skinny dipping in their pools? ;-)

On a serious note, I see you can control the camera angle in the vertical plane (up/down), can you also pivot it around horizontally, or is that a function of the direction of flight only?

Great idea Randy ! I'll put the hush kit on the rotor blades and do a recon this evening for girls….(-:

The 2D Gimbal rotates 90 degrees up/down and you yaw the copter for horizontal aiming. VERY easy to do with the
"Course Lock and Home Lock" modes. The GPS and autopilot make it totally easy to film more than fly. Note that this video was Only my second flight!

    Steve,
I also tried to feed my need by buying and flying the Phantom 2 Vision Quadcopter. This model has an HD video camera included. Very stable and easy to fly. I love the gps guided return to base feature if the copter gets out of range or loses it's connection with the remote.0_71.jpg

Another "Landed in a place called America" video using the Phantom QuadCopter and the GoPro camera.
