Default Need a DAR willing to travel to northern Minnesota

Does anyone know of a DAR that would travel to Two Harbors Minnesota to inspect my Carboncub? I had Tim Mahoney lined up but he just got a job with the FAA in Chicago and no longer available. He told me to contact the MIDO in Minneapolis to find another one. I went to the MIDO office yesterday and got zero help. MIDO dude told me the FAA won't do one outside of the Minneapolis metro area. I asked if they had a current list of folks they use and supervise and he told me to look at the FAA website. He said he thought there might be one in Wisconsin but wasn't sure. He did say that anyone in their region would work. (ND,SD,MN,WI and the UP of Mich)

I foolishly thought the FAA would be a little more help on this.

Hang in there Jake. It took me three weeks to get a response from the FAA. I had a DAR outside my region willing to do it but he couldn't get approval from the MSP MIDO to enter their region. I finally got the FAA to do it. You will get it done!!

Trent Teats from Fargo was great. Newest CCEX is airworthiness inspection complete.

Jake - Congrats - I love the paint scheme! When do you want to go out and fly some?

Anytime....I have a 7854square mile play area centered around KTWM. Need to brake in the motor first.

First flight this evening. On climb out, at about 3500AGL, #2 EGT went redline over 1600degrees. I pulled the throttle to idle and it stayed red. Descended for a precautionary landing. On downwind, the EGT jumped back and matched the rest. Took the cowl off and saw no indication of excess heat. (CHTs we're all pretty even between 390-408 on climb out)

We wiggled wires and looked for any shorts in the wires and couldn't duplicate the problem. Not sure how a short would effect EGTs.
If the weather holds, I will fly it again in the AM and see if I can get more than a 0.2. Impressed with the takeoff. 50ft or so. Flew nice and straight.

If you were full rich there is realistically no way it could go that high unless there were some major issues in that cylinder. Your steady CHT spread supports the idea that it was anomalous. Swap probes if you can and see if it moves around.

Clay is right. I had the same thing happen to me. Just re solder that connection and you will be fine. I had it happen on two cylinders at different times. If it goes crazy quick it's the connection. The G3x might even X it out because it knows it's faulty data.

Congrats on on the first flight Jake!!
